
When you think of major markets for Canadian tech innovation, Atlantic Canada does not often top the list. But Fredericton saw an increase of venture capital deals and dollars last year, culminating in the city nailing a spot as one of Canada’s top five tech markets in PwC’s MoneyTree report for Q3 2018. It was the first time New Brunswick’s capital city had made it onto the list since CB Insights began collecting MoneyTree data in 2012.

Ed-Tech Startups at FETC Promote Both Mission and Profitability
Among more than 30 startups vying for the top spot at the Future of Education Technology Conference’s Pitchfest competition were those focused on coding, reading comprehension, writing and social-emotional learning. Many were crafted around the well-established idea that they could personalize the educational experience for students.

Their employees don’t wear jackets that sport company logos. They don’t ship products in trucks or containers that bear the company name or have signs on buildings named after them. They work in relative obscurity but have a large impact nonetheless. They’re the province’s IT companies that employ more than 4,500 people provincewide.
