Medical Pharmacies Group revamps digital signage network

By | News

Medical Pharmacies Group, which operates in more than 40 locations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, has selected Charlottetown-based software developer ScreenScape Networks to replace its legacy digital signage system.

Medical Pharmacies uses place-based media to communicate with long-term care, retirement home extended-care facility residents, featuring customized programming—including local menus, news and event calendars—on screens mounted in lobbies, dining rooms and other communal areas.

“The old system no longer met our needs,” explains Puneet Kharma, vice-president (VP) of sales and marketing. “We needed richer functionality that would still be cost-effective and easy to use.”

With ScreenScape, Medical Pharmacies simply sends a plug-and-play media device via courier to each location. Once they are online, the devices are remotely updated and managed using cloud-based software.

Medical Pharmacies Group Ltd., a healthcare services firm in Canada, has selected ScreenScape Networks Inc. to upgrade its digital signage and expand its media network. ScreenScape provides a plug and play device to connect every screen to a cloud-based content management system, according to a press release.

Using the ScreenScape device, Medical Pharmacies can update the screens over Wi-Fi. Employees can plug the device into any TV on premise, turning it into digital signage. ScreenScape also provides secure access control and distributed co-management capabilities.

“Using ScreenScape we are able to involve various stakeholders in the onscreen messaging. Whether they work on premise at a specific location, or at the administration level with one of our facilities partners, we can provide them with simple and easy access to the system. That makes it easier to keep every screen fresh and relevant, and branded in the colors of the organization,” Puneet Khanna, vice president of sales and marketing, Medical Pharmacies, said in the release.
